Addictive Baked Beet Chips

There's no questioning that chips are an addicting food: potato chips, tortilla chips... even Fritos! I don't know what it is about crispy foods, and their crunchy texture, that makes them so divine.

Cachapas with 'queso de mano'

Cachapas are essentially corn pancakes, cooked on a griddle or hot pan. In Venezuela, you can buy them in road “tarantines” or in the more popular “areperas.”

Lasagna Bolognese with beef and pork. If you don't like this lasagna, you probably don't like your mother; at least, that's what my kids say. I happen to agree; it's delicious and irresistible, so what's not to love? For that reason, I've decided to christen my Revol ovenproof pan with this recipe, which remains a staple in my kitchen.

Bolognese Beef and Pork Sauce (VIDEO)

Bolognese beef and pork sauce. There;s nothing better than a good Bolognese sauce. If I'm not mistaken, this is the third Bolognese recipe I've put up on this blog. The thing is, Bolognese sauces are lifesavers —we eat them with spaghetti, as pictured above, but they're also well-matched with lasagna. It doesn't matter if it's hot or cold outside, nobody can resist this sauce.

Avocado Shrimp Canoes. Avocados have been part of my family diet forever. My grandpa used to have his fish soup garnished with avocados (a craving that I inherited and had it during my first pregnancy), and my grandma used to garnish her black bean soup with avocado and cilantro. In my Venezuelan childhood, our favorite salads were those involving avocados. These days, there is nothing that I love more than arepas filled with whatever… and avocados!
