Home of the free because of the brave

Remembering those men and women who sacrificed their freedoms for our own, who faced danger for our safety, and fell that we might rise. Together, we honor them.

Have a safe Memorial Day!

Arugula salad with strawberries and almonds. If you are a regular reader of this blog, you know that in my family we love homemade pizza. I must confess, however, that every time I have less time to make homemade pizzas and we do not like to order pizza. That’s the way we are.

Green Cilantro Salsa

Cilantro salsa. This is another recipe that can be done in a jiffy. It is a cilantro salsa by chef Lorena García. I found it in her latest book New Taco ClassicsThis salsa is perfect to eat with tortilla chips, tacos, arepas, hallaquitas, tostones (green fried plantains) and boiled or fried yucca too. Now that grilling season is here, it's perfect to sample while the grill is ready and also to garnish meat, poultry and fish. The possibilities are endless. I hope you like it as much as I do.

Multicolor Caprese Salad (and Happy Cinco de Mayo)

Multicolor Caprese Salad. Whenever I buy buffalo milk mozzarella, I make Caprese salad, one of my favorite salads. Today’s Caprese salad is so beautiful because it's made with a mixture of multicolored tomatoes I bought just because they looked so cute in their package. When I checked them, I realized they were a produce from Mexico.
