A toast with Buchanan's to the Latin Billboard Awards

This week during the 2015 Latin Billboard Awards, Miami will become, once again, the capital of the World for Latin music and entertainment. Thanks to Buchanan's invitation, official sponsor of this event, I will have the opportunity to not only enjoy the Billboard Awards ceremony on Thursday, April 30, but all the prior events and activities, including cocktail parties, dinners and a private concert.

Mango Agua Fresca with Tajín Recipe

First of all this post is the story of a long awaited craving! About three weeks ago, I attended a cooking demonstration with chef George Durán. I was so busy that day I couldn’t get there on time. When I finally arrived, the demonstration had just started and they were having yellow drinks, served in margarita glasses with an orange rim.

I did not open my mouth to not disturb, but then found out the drink was nothing more than an agua fresca, as Mexicans call the "watery" juices that were made in Venezuela where I grew up.

Grilled Pineapple Guacamole Recipe

As promised, here is chef George Durán’s recipe for guacamole with grilled pineapple. Chef George made this guacamole in the PAM cooking spray’s demonstration I attended a few weeks ago. I love it because I love grilled fruit and particularly pineapple, and also because the fruit gives guacamole a lighter consistency. I hope you like it.

White Sangría

I was born and raised in Caracas, where the influence of Spanish cuisine, especially Galician, Basque and Catalan, was a constant. So, for me sangría (literally bleeding) or zurra, as they call it in Ciudad Real and Toledo, in Castile-La Mancha, was always red, as indicated by its name... until I moved to Miami.
