Papaya and Almond Milkshake with Chia

I’m not sure if it's the Hispanic Heritage Month. Or that I've been missing my Grandma Ligia a lot lately.  Or that in Miami papayas are identical to those that we used to have in Grandma’s house in El Valle del Espíritu Santo in Margarita Island. Or that I’m experimenting with almond milk and chia seeds on a daily basis. Or a combination of all these factors.

But the truth is that today I woke up craving for a papaya milkshake. Instead of milk, a used almond milk and as a sweetener added some agave nectar, added a dash of vanilla and a handful of chia seeds. By the magic of flavors, I went back to my childhood, when mi abuelita, freshly showered and smelling of talcum, used to make us papaya milkshake as a snack.

Papaya almond milkshake | Ingredients for 2 servings
2 cups of papaya, peeled, seeded and cut into chunks
1 cup of almond milk
3 tablespoons of agave nectar
3 tablespoons of chia seeds
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Put all ingredients in a blender.

Blend until you get a creamy smoothie.

Serve and drink immediately.
