I have a confession to
make. I love beer. And I dream about testing and tasting beer and writing about
that. I did it with rum. So, why not with beer too? Dreams can come true. We
make them true. It happens. So, when I heard about Oktoberfest in Miami, I ran
to write about it!
Oktoberfest is the
world's largest Volksfest (people’s fair) in the world, annually held in Munich, Germany, since 1810. It is a
16-day festival running from late September to the first weekend in October, with more than 6 million people from around the world attending the fair every
year and more than 7 million liters of beer served!
Only beer brewed
within the city limits of Munich (and with a 5.8% to 6.3% alcohol by volume)
may be served at Oktoberfest. Beers meeting these criteria may be designated
As usual, in Miami we have
another story; instead of Oktoberfest, we have Octoberfest, the Fifth Annual Samuel Adams Octoberfest. Not in
Bavaria. But in Wynwood. And it will take place on Friday, September 19 and
Saturday, September 20, 2014, at the Sam Adams Castle-Soho Studios.
Bringing Bavaria to
Miami are partners in crime Tony Albelo of Social House Events and Javi Zayas
of Zevents. So, forget about neon
wearing and beat-pumping rave. This will be all about German traditions and of
Event tickets have
been divided into three categories: The Bavarian, Der Kommisar and The
Chancellor and range between $20 and $50.
“The Bavarian” ticket
includes admission and a free 16 oz beer.
The “Der Kommisar”
ticket includes admission, a commemorative Sam Adams Half-Liter Stein and one
free Stein fill.
“The Chancellor”, a
VIP ticket option, includes admission, a commemorative Sam Adams Half-Liter
Stein, a souvenir Bavarian hat, access to "The Pavilion”, private VIP
Bathrooms and two free Stein fills.
