Scrumptious grilled shrimp tacos with cilantro sauce and happy 4th of July!

Today’s recipe is my superb grilled shrimp tacos with cilantro sauce. They taste like Miami: a fusion of ingredients and flavors and color and textures, that result in a flavorful, scrumptious, vibrant, yet delicate dish.
The best part: it won’t take more than 15 minutes to prepare and serve it.
I grilled the shrimp (because at home we all love grilled food,) but they can also be cooked in the stove.
The secret to this delicacy is the cilantro sauce that you make in the blink of an eye by blending all the ingredients in a blender.
This is Maricel Presilla’s sauce with slight variations in the ingredients proportions.
And these tacos would be nothing without Maricel’s signature mojo.
Happy 4th of July to everybody living in this wonderful country where we celebrate our independence with picnics, backyard BBQs, baseball games and fireworks instead of military parades!
Shrimp tacos with cilantro sauce | Ingredients for 4 servings
Ingredients for the cilantro sauce
¾ cup of mayonnaise (I used Hellmann’s)
2 garlic cloves, peeled
1 cup of cilantro leaves washed and dried
½ teaspoon of ground cumin
1 pinch ground allspice
¼ teaspoon dried oregano
3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
Red pepper flakes to taste

Preparation
Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until a smooth and creamy.

Ingredients for the tacos
8 flour or corn tortillas
40 medium shrimp, cleaned, washed and dried with paper towels
1 lime cut in wedges
4 cups of your choice of lettuce, rinsed, dried and chopped

Preparation
Preheat the grill.

Place the shrimp in a bowl and sprinkle some lime juice. Let marinate for 5-10 minutes.

Grease a grilling pan and place on the grill. Add the shrimp. Cook the shrimp for 8-10 minutes. You know the shrimp are ready when the flesh is white and the exterior is reddish. Do not overcook.

Once the shrimp are ready, place the tortillas on the grill to warm them.

Put the tortillas on individual plates and add some lettuce.

Put the shrimp over the lettuce.

Serve with cilantro sauce to taste.
