With my brother’s family still here, I haven’t had time to think about my 2012 resolutions.
However, after enjoying El Negroni de La Hacienda and Witchy Woman and considering that resolutions must be achievable goals, number one on my list for this New Year is to enjoy aperitifs. Easy!
Appetite stimulants, aperitifs are drinks created to prepare your tummy for lunch or dinner. The French name apéritif is derived from the Latin verb aperire, meaning “to open.”
That’s exactly what The Opening Act is: the perfect start for any meal. I found the recipe in a mini brochure that came to me with a bottle of French ginger liqueur Domaine de Canton (and by the way, this liquor is so good it deserves a review post by itself.)
2 oz ginger liqueur (I used Domaine de Canton)
½ oz of bitters liqueur (Campari or Luxardo)
½ oz of fresh lime juice
Shake and strain over ice in a tall glass. Top with tonic. Garnish with a mint sprig.
